The Personal Responsibility of Hygiene

It is the second quarter of 2021 and the COVID-19 pandemic is still raging across the world. However, it is a bit different from the crisis experienced in 2020, as the virus is developing into new deadly variants.

Although we have had several pandemics in the past,  the differentiating factor for COVID-19 is our response to the situation.

Campaigns from global health organizations and governments  outline how to stay protected against the virus — keep social distance, avoid crowded gatherings and poorly ventilated areas, wear a mask, clean and disinfect surfaces, and wash your hands regularly. It is worth noting that all the outlined guidelines for safety are solely based on each individual’s personal hygiene practices.

The responsibility for personal hygiene, by wearing a mask, washing our hands, and keeping our environments clean and disinfected, cannot be overemphasized as it was and still is the first line of defense against COVID-19.

The relentless effort in our personal and environmental hygiene should not diminish even though it seems like the virus is phasing out. The important lessons we learnt regarding personal hygiene should stick with us much more now and even beyond the pandemic.

While personal hygiene is important, as companies, we are also responsible for the safety of our staff and customers. Hence in April 2020, Cormart immediately increased the production of hand wash, sanitizers, and disinfectants into different liter sizes, such as Caritol Surface Sanitizer and Antox Disinfectant.

The good news is that vaccines are now available but we are still a long way from getting everyone vaccinated. This is why we must not relent in our personal responsibility of hygiene.
